ABOUT LIFECALC
Small calculations.
Big perspective.
LifeCalc is a collection of free tools for curious people. It turns dates and everyday averages into answers you can understand instantly—from your exact age and a countdown to any moment, to the astronomical positions associated with your birth.
How the birth blueprint works
Your Sun, Moon and planetary signs are calculated from their astronomical ecliptic positions at the moment you were born. Your rising sign also needs your birthplace, because it is the part of the zodiac rising above the eastern horizon at that location and time.
LifeCalc currently uses the tropical zodiac and the Placidus house system. Planetary and house calculations run through the MIT-licensed Celestine calculation library, whose algorithms are based on standard astronomical models and tested against published ephemeris references.
Astrology and science
The positions of celestial bodies are astronomical calculations. Assigning personality meanings to signs, houses and aspects belongs to the cultural tradition of astrology and is not supported as a scientific method. Those descriptions are offered for entertainment and personal reflection, never as medical, financial or life advice.
Data sources and credits
Our bundled birthplace search is derived from the SimpleMaps World Cities Database under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. Time-zone matching uses the CC0-licensed tz-lookup project. The searchable index is hosted with LifeCalc, so typing a birthplace does not send the query to a third-party geocoding service.
Free by design
The calculators are designed to stay free and work without an account. Clearly marked advertising areas may support the site in the future, but advertisements never change the calculation result.
